How many relationships do you know that begin with wondering, "Who's this old bald guy?"
Read on ...
Back in high school, Marci hung around with Matt and knew his older brother Tim. She also knew a girl — one of the many — Tim dated.
Over the years, she ran into Tim's brothers and his sister, but she never saw him. So, when she went to a high-school benefit last January and saw him, it was the first time in 30 years. She didn't recognize him.
She says: "The last time I saw Tim he had long, feathered hair and a very hot bod! Tim was a stud in high school. He was standing with another man and called my name. I recognized his brother but thought, 'Who's this old bald guy?' Then I recognized his voice. I felt like I was back in 7th grade. Suddenly I remembered the time he kissed me when he was 16 and I was 13."
The memory came rushing back. Marci was at Tim's house because his younger brother Matt was having a co-ed party. Tim was there with his girlfriend. Marci's girlfriend Michelle was trying to fix them up with guys in a kissing game. But Marci didn't want to play and told her to leave her alone. Tim jumped in and said he'd kiss Marci.
Marci says: "And so he did. I wanted to die. I felt my face turning beat red. Tim was popular with the girls, I was pretty shy. The song that was playing was 'You're Sixteen' by Ringo Starr. 'You're sixteen, you're beautiful and you're mine.' I had forgotten that moment until I ran into Tim in January."
Marci says they talked as though they were still in high school. Nothing had changed, except they'd both been married 20 years and gotten divorced. He asked for her phone number and told her that his son went to college near her and they should get together for dinner.
"I gave it to him thinking he'd never call," she says.
He called her that night to make sure she got home safely. They went to dinner two weeks later.
She says: "He kissed me good night and that was it. We fell deeply in love and have been together ever since and plan on getting married. Tim makes everything so easy. He's like nobody I've ever been with. He's everything I've always fantasized about in a partner. We keep wondering why we never ran into each other over the past 30 years.
"I can't imagine my life without him. I feel like I've missed so much not being with him but he has four great kids from his marriage and I have three great kids from mine. They're the reasons things happen the way they do.
"I never thought I would end up with someone from high school. Never say never."
