When Cosby's sentence of three to 10 years in state prison was handed down on Wednesday at 2:15 pm, "General Hospital" was broken into. News always takes precedence over programming.
Daytime drama's most beloved spoiled brat is headed back to "General Hospital." Nicolas Bechtel (Spencer) returns to town with his grandmother Laura (Genie Francis). Expect him to mix it up with Valentin, whom he blames for the death of his father, Nikolas. He will also hang out with Jake — Liz and Jason's son.
Speaking of Jake, Hudson West, the amazing 11-year-old who has the role, is headed to "Dancing with the Stars: Juniors." The actors on "General Hospital" might want to speak to this kid's agent. His list of credits, from movies to primetime TV to commercials, is amazing.
Eric Braeden (Victor, "Young and Restless") is in his native Germany for the next month. That did not keep the man, who says what he thinks, from making a Facebook post about the latest cast cuts on the show. He was stunned about Doug Davidson (Paul) getting the boot. Yeah, yeah, he is on recurring. You'll see him on a milk carton sooner than you'll see him on the show. Braeden also decried Eileen Davidson's choice not to sign a new contract. Those two moves are upsetting, but there has been a lot of press coverage on those exits. He mentioned the exit of Christian LeBlanc (Michael), but no one else has dropped that bomb.
Nothing against the actors; it never is with me. The do they best with what they are given. But I do not care about Lola's food cart, Arturo's romance with Abby or the never-ending J.T. murder mystery. A soap is like a grocery store shelf. It only has so much time and space. I love the new detergents. But I would be crazed if I went to the store and the space for Tide was taken over by Dr. Goombah's Wonder Flakes. Come on, "Young and Restless" powers that be, you can still fix this mess. Make room enough for both the Tide everyone loves and the new detergent on the block.
