"General Hospital" star Leslie Charleson will be off the show for the time being. This week the actress was walking her dog, Riley Rose. He tugged. She pulled. She fell and injured her leg.
Her character, Monica, has some big scenes on the horizon. The producers felt they could not work around them. Patty McCormack is stepping in. If you want to get spooked, watch McCormack's early work in "The Bad Seed." You can stream it online. Her character was truly a demon child. It was a chilling performance. McCormack has other soap work under her belt. She filled in for Kathryn Hayes (Kim) on "As the World Turns." She spent a year on the daytime soap "Best of Everything" and the nighttime sudser "Dallas." She literally has been working since she was 3 years old. The divorced mother of 2 is said to be sorry for Charleson's accident but thrilled to work on "General Hospital."
As for Charleson, no word on how long it will take to recover. She took over the role of Monica from Patsy Rahn more than 30 years ago. Like the mailman, rain or shine she never missed a day.
Charleson wants fans to know their emails have meant so much to her. Anyone who knows the Emmy-nominated actress knows she loves her job at "General Hospital" and horseback riding. She wants viewers to know she is doing everything she can to make a speedy recovery so she can get back on her horse and into the Quartermaine living room. She wishes McCormack the best.
False alarm? It appears Kin Shriner's (Scott, "General Hospital") tweet about Scott Baldwin leaving the building for good was premature. That is great news for the show and fans. In my article last week, when it seemed Scott was going to be discharged, I talked about the unique Shriner. No matter whom he works with or how small the scene, he makes it better. At this point, neither Shriner nor the show is commenting on the post, which was removed.
Karla Mosley (Maya, "The Bold and the Beautiful') and her boyfriend, John Rogers, are expecting their first child in August. Since her "Bold and Beautiful" character is transgender, the pregnancy will not be written into the show.
I'm sad to report that Beth Maitland and her husband of 26 years are divorcing. The couple separated in 2016. Spouse Christopher Banninger, a Hollywood sound mixer, filed for the divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. He is not seeking spousal support. It appears they have already divided their property. They have one daughter.
Hope this is true: David Lago (Raul, "The Young and the Restless") may be returning. The character came back last month to attend Walnut Grove's centennial celebration. The popular character came with his wife, Brittany (Lauren Woodland). No word on when and how he will return, but the show could use a good-looking, bright, not-out-for-himself character. Raul is all three. Lago, who won an Emmy for his work, has kept busy with indie films, and he spent several months playing Elvis Presley on stage.
