Laugh It Off

We all know the saying that "laughter is the best medicine" — and if there's one thing we as a society should agree on, I think it should be just that. Whenever I'm in a funk, it's more than just allowing other people to make me laugh, though; being able to laugh at yourself is one of the healthiest qualities you can have.

The ability to laugh at yourself not only allows you to embrace your flaws but also can help boost your self-esteem. We're all humans, and humans make mistakes. It's how we handle those mistakes and embarrassing moments that defines us. Being able to find the humor in every situation is the best coping mechanism. Make a joke; laugh about it; and forget it ever happened. When you laugh, especially at yourself, everyone else will join in. Laughter is extremely contagious and healing for the soul.

Toilet paper stuck on your shoe, bats in the cave, letting one rip in a crowded elevator — it happens to the best of us. How do you think I coped with my "heavy flow" catastrophe? I laughed it off and then shared it with all of you in my book so you could laugh with me!

Never be afraid to find the funny in a situation. Trust me that it will make all the difference. Now you tell me: What embarrassing moments were you able to laugh off?
