Giving Gifts of Style: The Style Santa Gift List

Forget dreaming of drones delivering your packages this holiday season. It's time to get back down to earth with some serious shopping for those trendy fashionistas on your gift list. If you're still busy playing the Style Santa, here are some quick ideas to get you started:

—Book it. Your chic friends and relatives love to browse the latest books for tips and trends. They may be addicted to their iPads or Kindles, but there's nothing like getting the real deal. Check out the best deals on Amazon. One of my favorites "Freakin' Fabulous on a Budget" (Gallery Books, $26) is written by Clinton Kelly, the delightful host of ABC's "The Chew" and TLC's "What Not to Wear." The book, which is his latest, is a great read and has lots of ways to not only dress well while spending less but also inexpensive dining and decorating suggestions.

—Vogue it. If your fashion friends love books, they'll also love a subscription to a fashion magazine. Subscriptions to print editions usually come with free digital editions, so your friends will be able to enjoy both. This is a great idea for chic guy friends and teens on your list, as well. Who didn't love getting Seventeen magazine at 14 years old?

—Give back. There are lots of ways to give a double gift this holiday season. Contribute to a charity and give the gift that keeps on giving. My daughter gets a pair of Toms shoes every year ... and so does someone else needing a pair of shoes in some other part of the world. The company donates a pair for every pair purchased. Another one of my favorite charities this year, FEED, was co-founded by Lauren Bush Lauren. The organization works with artisans in East Africa to sell their handcrafted products and funds meals for 300,000 Rwandan schoolchildren through the United Nations World Food Program.

—Stuff it. Sometimes it's the little things we love the most, whether tucked into a stocking or even better, placed in an envelope on our desks at work. Here are some ideas: How about a deck of playing cards from the oh-so-chic designers of Proenza Schouler or a variety of makeup from Cover Girl's holiday collection, inspired by "The Hunger Games"? What about techie phone and tablet accessories? And gift cards are always a big hit!

—Scent it. These are often gifts you would never buy for yourself, but guys and gals alike love to spritz on a festive fragrance that maintains and brightens their holiday spirits for months to come. Though many of the more expensive perfumes and colognes may be reserved for that "special" someone on your list, there are plenty of great fragrances that come as gifts with purchases. Check out the complimentary, perky polka dot clutch that comes with Marc Jacobs fragrances. For the guys on your list, don't forget aftershave balms and shower gels. Calvin Klein offers a roomy duffle bag as a gift with any large spray purchase from its men's fragrance collection (www.dillards.com). These are real treats for men who might not buy these products for themselves!
