Candace Cameron Bure will be doing a full court press of promotion for her forthcoming "Balancing it All" book as soon as the new year begins. The actress, whose 2011 "Reshaping It All" was a best-seller, tells us her latest written effort came out of "some of the questions I get asked the most. In this crazy world, this culture where we're all trying to be superwomen, people wonder, 'How do you keep your career, your children, your family, your faith?' 'How do you manage everything and not go crazy?'
"That's what the theme of the book is, and it's really my personal story about juggling priorities in my life."
Bure, who rose to fame as D.J., the eldest daughter on "Full House," has her own full house to think about — her husband of 17 years, retired Russian NHL hockey player Valeri Bure, and their children Natasha, Lev and Maksim. There are also her acting career and busy schedule of speaking engagements.
"I think the biggest theme in the book is that balancing it all doesn't mean you have to cut anything out or cut everything to a minimum. It's about taking the things that are important to you and focusing on them. That's how you are able to balance it well." However, she adds, her book "is not a 10-step guide because everyone's life is different. It's very autobiographical."
Right now, the 37-year-old is focusing on preparing for her favorite holiday, Christmas.
"We'll be in Los Angeles, all my family is here. We get up and we go serve at a shelter. We'll cook breakfast and bring it in and sit down and have breakfast with the people who are staying at that shelter. It's a wonderful time, I think, to put it all into perespective what Christmas is about — giving back. It's not just about us, it's not about gifts," she says. "It brings us back to the true meaning of Christmas which for us, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the gift that he gave to us. We like to show our thanks by giving something we can do for others. That's our Christmas. And then we get together later in the afternoon with our family and have a big dinner and open gifts."
As far as what she would like to do next as an actress, "I would actually love to do a series," says Bure, whose last series outing was the Family Channel serial drama about aspiring gymnasts, "Make It Or Break It."
"It would have to be in Los Angeles because I have my three kids. They're all in school," she notes. "It's easy to go away for three for weeks to do a movie, but for a series, I wouldn't want to uproot. I love the schedule of a series, the consistency. With a movie, I might be away for a month, but then I'm home for six or seven months in-between.
"There are pros and cons to both."
Bure's new "Let is Snow" is airing in repeats on the Hallmark Channel (including today, Dec. 5), and she says, "I know I wil have another Hallmark movie for 2014 — we got greenlighted for another one."
First, though, comes her non-acting work. "I will defintiely be traveling in January, as well as just doing a lot of press in L.A. and New York. I will be doing a lot of book signings, probably at very small book stores. But actually, I do so much speaking at conferences and events, it gives me opportunities — I'll do those conferences more than book apperances."
