DEAR STACY: Can you give some background on the actor who plays Mayhem in the Allstate commercials? I'd like to see him in more things. — Charlotte G., Cedar Rapids, Iowa

DEAR CHARLOTTE: You're talking about New York City native Dean Winters, whose resume includes numerous film and TV roles in addition to his long-running "Mayhem" insurance spots. He's had regular roles on "Battle Creek," "Rescue Me," 30 Rock" and "Oz," and was seen as Sarah Connor's love interest on "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." The 6-foot-1-inch Colorado College graduate is the eldest of four siblings. Brother Scott, also an actor, portrayed his brother on "Oz." Winters' film roles include "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows," "John Wick," "Conspiracy Theory," "All Shook Up" and "Devil You Know."

DEAR STACY: We've been indulging in a guilty pleasure — watching the original "Star Trek" episodes in our 50th anniversary collection. It sparked a question: Whatever became of Jeffrey Hunter, who portrayed the original captain of the Enterprise, Christopher Pike? He also played Jesus in "King of Kings." — Hopkins Family, Chattanooga, Tennessee

DEAR HOPKINS FAMILY: Hunter died as the result of a fall at age 42 in 1969. There were a few mishaps during the weeks leading up to Hunter's death that may have been a factor in his final accident. While filming in Spain, Hunter was injured in an on-set explosion, suffering facial lacerations from broken glass and powder burns. Later, he banged the back of his head against a door when a friend accidentally hit him on the chin with a karate chop. Hunter, who knew judo, failed to defend himself in time. While returning to the United States, Hunter's right arm suddenly became semi-paralyzed and he lost the power of speech as the result of a stroke. Upon landing, he was taken directly to a hospital where an examination showed that a vertebra in his neck was out of place. He was released after a couple of weeks. Shortly after, Hunter suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. He was on a short flight of steps in his living room when it happened and injured his head in the fall. He died, without regaining consciousness, the following day after surgery to repair the skull fracture.

DEAR STACY: Is Ryan Reynolds any relation to Burt Reynolds? — CaseyS14

DEAR CASEYS14: Not unless in some very, very distant way that neither is actor is aware of.

DEAR STACY: I used to watch a show called "Getting to Know Me" on PBS. It was about a little girl learning about herself and life with her family. I would like to know if this show is available for purchase. — DeliLH

DEAR DELILH: That 1980s series, centered on a sister and brother and their grandma, isn't commercially available, but with enough demand, who knows? It is fondly remembered by many.
