Remember the big trucker protest convoy of, what, last year?
Yeah, a bunch of the concrete cowboys who drive the big rigs rolled into Washington, D.C., to protest COVID-19 vaccinations and restrictions.
And then?
I don't remember. Hardy anyone does.
The guys who did the driving remember, but I'll bet they don't talk about it much.
Meanwhile, COVID has killed more than a million people in the United States.
But the pandemic is over. Everyone thinks it's over, so it's over.
That's the flip side of Democracy.
Democracy says you vote, and you get what you want.
"Dimocracy" is the flip side of Democracy.
Dimocracy says that we vote on what's real and what's not real. Whatever has the most believers is the truth, always and forever.
Dimocracy has decided that COVID is over. You don't have to wear a mask, the vaccine doesn't really work, and all the hospitals in the country were lying about the dead people.
Of course, a little over one million people are dead of COVID since it started, and around 500 people a day are dying of it, but it's over because we say it is, because Dimocracy is the voice of the people, and the people cannot be wrong.
I don't mean the people are never wrong. I mean they cannot be wrong, or at least they can't be told they're wrong. If you tell them too loudly or too often that they're wrong, they sometimes riot or storm the Capitol, but mostly they just call you a "sheep" and continue to be maddeningly right in the wrongest of ways.
It's a pleasant life, never being wrong, and Americans of the left and right have chosen never to be wrong in increasing numbers. We've gone from a country whose citizens wanted a secure job to a nation whose citizens want to be secure in their opinions. Forever.
If you have to attend the funeral of your Uncle Manuel who died from COVID, don't tell anyone, or at least don't tell those of your friends who vote straight Dimocrat in the mental election between facts and comforting beliefs.
If you talk about Manuel's death to the wrong person, you'll be explaining that even though Manuel was vaccinated, it wasn't the vaccine that killed him, or that the hospital didn't put COVID down as the cause of death even though Manuel probably just died of old age. He was 70, you know. If you're lucky, one of your friends who votes straight Dimocrat will ask you if you looked in the coffin after they screwed the lid down because, if you didn't, Manny's lifeless body has been reanimated and is now working as a zombie laborer in a factory that makes electric cars. The factory is owned by Barack Obama.
We are the most spoiled people who ever lived, and we must never be told we're wrong. Facts will not convince us that we are wrong, and disaster will not convince us that we are wrong. Even death can't talk us out of anything.
LAST NOTE: I wrote this column knowing people will say, "The real 'Dimocrats' are the Democrats who are destroying America from within."
Go ahead. Say it. I like being right
