PRIME TIME
Starting in December, ABC will air new episodes of "What Would You Do?" — a sophisticated version of "Candid Camera." When I was a kid, I saw an episode of "Candid Camera" where a student in a New York City junior high was told he was cut out to be a shepard. The kid was Richard Lewis. After he became famous, Lewis begged Alan Funt, creator and producer of the show, to let him have the episode. Funt refused. "What Would You Do?" replaces "Lucky 7." The show drew snake eyes and was dropped after two airings.

ABC's "Revenge" continues to take a ratings nosedive. The show is shedding viewers faster than a snake sheds its skin. The problem may be that viewers no longer consider Emily a victim trying to avenge her father's death. The I-will-do-anything-to-make-them-pay girl has been the catalyst of the death of several "innocents." The week before last, Nolan told her, "enough already." I was clapping. As of last week, he is back to being Emily's puppy dog. The men of this series are pathetic. Aiden, Jack and Daniel are, to put it in PC language, wimps. It is nice to see a strong woman, but the men do not need to be as weak as yesterday's tea.

Showtime's hit series "Ray Donovan" has lots of on-screen legal issues. In real life, the executive producer of the show is having his own legal woes. Bryan Zuriff pled guilty for his involvement with an illegal gambling group. Thirty-four people were charged with running gambling operations that have allegedly laundered more than $100,000. The defendants were called "alleged members and associates of Russian-American organized crime enterprises." Many of his Hollywood pals have petitioned the judge to keep him out of jail.
"Bryan is prepared to take complete responsibility for his wrongdoing and complete whatever sentence you deem appropriate. With that said, I urge you to be lenient. Bryan is first and foremost a family man, dedicated to his wife and children. A harsh punishment will be a punishment, not just for Bryan, but for his entire family as well. They do not deserve that," wrote Judd Apatow in a Sept. 12, 2013 letter to federal judge Jesse Furman.
"If there is good news here, it is that Bryan has taken the opportunity to face his demons and is coming out of this a better man in so many ways," said Mark Gordon in a letter detailing what a good producer Zuriff is.
The PGA chief's company produces Showtime's hit "Ray Donovan." "Lone Survivor" director, Peter Berg, "Hangover producer" Scott Budnick, producer Ann Biderman and "Ray Donovan" star Jon Voight are among others who submitted letters to the judge commending Zuriff before his scheduled Nov. 25 sentencing.
