Ridge of "The Bold and the Beautiful" is about to have a new Thorne in his side. After over 20 years as Ridge, Winsor Harmon was bumped a few years back. He was last seen in October, 2016. Last week he was told that the role was being recast. He took to Facebook thanking the show for his long run and wished his replacement good luck. At the time, he did not know to whom he was giving the baton. Now he knows. Ingo Rademaker first airs in mid-November. The 46-year-old actor said at his age, getting a steady job is not easy. He played Jax on "General Hospital," and was brought back to GH in a storyline that had Sonny getting him banned from the States. The ban has been lifted. It did not look as if he would be coming back to Port Charles. As for B&B, he does not know what his character's storyline will be. Whatever it is, it will be great to see him back on the canvas. For years, the character has been pretty much out of sight and out of mind for viewers. For years, Thorne was the show's moral compass; perhaps he and Liam can team up and rescue the show from its overload of anti-heroes. Or perhaps he will decide he is mad and won't take being overshadowed by Ridge, who is not Eric's biological son. By the way, Jeff Tracta, who had a long run as Thorne, has a big hit show in Las Vegas. Earlier this year, he was on "America's Got Talent" as a rock-and-rolling Donald Trump. He made it through several rounds before being voted off. Wish we could vote off the real Donald Trump.
At last, Allison Sweeney (Sami) is back in Salem. On October 13, she comes storming into town for a two-month run. Part of the story is bringing back her son Will from the dead. Sweeney, who started on the show as a pre-teen, has never commented on the storyline. Will's death was the only time she said the show got it wrong, which they did. Sweeney will interact with mom and dad — Marlena and Roman. Thankfully, it will mean more airtime for Bryan Datillio, who plays Lucas. His work in the past few months have been Emmy-worthy. For years, Lucas and Sami were star-crossed lovers. Sami will most likely give Lucas hell for falling off the wagon.
Speaking of "Days," it is on fire — good storyline, witty dialogue and spot-on acting. Hopefully the rumor that Theo is being killed off is just a rumor. We also hope Eric's exit from Salem is short term. Greg Vaughn, who plays him, is not only good-looking, but is a solid actor.
Anne Sterling, who played snooty Amanda Barrington on "General Hospital" on and off for 20 years, died Saturday at 94. The first time I saw her, she was starring in the CBS comedy "Topper." She and real-life husband Robert Sterling played ghosts who invaded the home of the cranky Cosmo Topper. The delish duo made lots of mischief. Only Topper could see or hear their antics. Youtube has several scenes from the show. Sterling left acting in the 1980s to become a businessman. Dying at the age of 84, shingles left him bedridden for the last several years of his life. Wally Kurth (Ned) tweeted that she was a true professional and always brought a smile to the set.
