Two former soap opera stars will be speaking at the Republican convention in Cleveland, which kicks off this week, when Donald Trump is expected to become the Republican nominee for president. Kimberlin Brown and Antonio Sabato Jr. Brown played the insane murderous Sheila Carter on both The Young and the Restlessand The Bold and the Beautiful. Sabato Jr. was Jagger Cates on General Hospital and Dante Damiano on B&B.? ?"As a small business person we can't afford any longer to provide health insurance," Brown told the Women in Business for Trump coalition in May. She told the crowd that while her business used to provide it, that they no longer can afford to do so. Brown also told the audience how badly the North American Free Trade Agreement has "sold out Hollywood." She continued, "how about 'American lives matter'? NAFTA truly affected the entertainment industry." Brown added that "the drug cartels are using the farming industry to smuggle drugs."
Sabato, who was born in Italy — we all know what Trump thinks of immigrants — has been tweeting fast and furious about the upcoming election. One tweet suggests that Obama and Clinton belong in Gitmo. He also suggests there should be no gun laws, likes the idea of a wall between America and Mexico and also blamed Obama for Dallas police shooting. I could blame all these rants he on the fact that he hosted the Chippendales in Los Vegas for a month this year. I firmly believe each Chippendale move takes away brain cells. That excuse will not work, as Sabato was touting Trump five years ago when the Donald was spouting the birther idea. Obama was not born in America, but Kenya. He recently told Trump he would love to work on his security detail. Trump told him he would check with the secret service. They decided Sabato should stick to modeling underwear for Calvin Klein.
Behind the scenes, "Young and Restless" has an "All about Eve" aura. The classic film dealt with a famous movie star taking a starlet under her wing. Said starlet schemed to replace the star in a major movie. Over at "Y&R," British TV producer Mal Young was hired as a supervising producer in February; that gig ended July 12, and on July 13 he took over as the show's executive producer, who was previously Jill Feren Phelps. Young was in the states to pitch a series, and when that did not pan out he was hired by Sony to work on "Y&R." While working in the UK, Young was criticized for taking the show "Brook side" from socially relevant to anything for good ratings. It worked, as the show had its highest rating under Young. Young recently said he listens to fans, but then does what he wants. He likes the element of surprise. He hopes viewers have an "I did not see that coming," experience.
Tristan Rogers (Colon) has tweeted that he is back filming at "Y&R." He will be sharing screen time with Cain (Daniel Goddard) and Jill (Jess Walton.)
