Lisa Messinger
Lisa Messinger has written the Cooks' Books column since 1994. She has won first place nationally in food writing from the Association of Food Journalists. She is the author of four books: the best-selling "The Tofu Book: The New American Cuisine" (Avery/Penguin Putnam), "Why Should I Eat Better: Simple Answers to All Your Nutritional Questions" (Avery/Penguin Putnam), "Turn Your Supermarket Into a Health Food Store: The Brand Name Guide to Shopping for a Better Diet" (Pharos/Scripps Howard) and "Biting the Hand That Feeds Me: Days of Binging, Purging and Recovery" (Arena Press).
She is a founding managing editor of a line of dining books published by Gayot (Gault Millau)/America Online and was food editor at prominent daily newspapers for 12 years. One of the country's busiest food writers, Lisa has traveled extensively and written about many of the world's top chefs.
